Sepp van den Berg attracting attention with impressive Championship displays

Liverpool star Sepp van den Berg is impressing in the Championship on loan with Preston North End.

Signed for just £4m, the Dutch defender has yet to break into the first team at Anfield but he’s only 19 so there isn’t any rush for Jurgen Klopp to force him into the side.

He’s shining in the Championship and that’s exactly what you want from a 19-year-old out on loan.

In the summer, van den Berg confirmed that his ultimate “dream is to play for Liverpool” and he’s going the right way about it as he is the only defender to have made 25+ tackles (25) , interceptions (33) and blocks (26).

It shows that he is well-rounded and efficient and while it’s not always easy to translate that to the wild west that is the Premier League but it’s still very encouraging to see him flourishing.

He said in the summer: “When I joined (Liverpool), it was a big, big step for me! I came from Holland when I was only 17. It was a really big step but I’ve really enjoyed every moment I’ve been here.

“I’m still 19 so there is really no rush for me. My dream is to be able to play for Liverpool. I signed for five years when I came. I will have three years left in the summer. There is plenty of time for me.

“It’s my dream to play for Liverpool. That is all I think about in the long term, there is nothing else I think about.”
