Arsenal could be without Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang against Liverpool

The biggest game of the Premier League’s return to action will take place at Anfield between Liverpool and Arsenal.

And the Gunners could be without talismanic figure, Aubameyang. Mikel Arteta is reportedly sweating on his striker’s fitness after he was ruled out of Gabon’s second international match and he is now a major doubt to face the Reds.

He was spotted on Instagram Live celebrating their win over 1-0 win over Libya and was not fit for Gabon’s 2-1 defeat to Egypt which Mohamed Salah featured in.

Liverpool are in need of a Premier League win as they have not won a game in the league since beating Watford and Manchester United 5-0, drawing with Brighton and losing to West Ham United.

Maximum points from their last five would have seen the Reds climb above Chelsea in the table and they would be three points clear on 29 points but as it is, Jurgen Klopp’s side are four points adrift of the league leaders on 22.

Beating Arsenal, a side in form with three wins from three domestically, is exactly what the Anfield outfit needs as it would see them avoid dropping out of the top four and ensure they head into the festive fixture list with some momentum.

Aubameyang has been crucial to the Gunners’ form recently and while he has been criticised hugely for his form since penning a huge number deal at the Emirates, the former Borussia Dortmund striker has scored 9 goals and assisted 2 more this season.

His absence will be a major blow to Arsenal if he is unavailable but it could be a huge boost for Liverpool.
