The South Korean has been fantastic in the short time he has been with Wolves and is attracting interest from Liverpool and Manchester City.
The Premier League’s big boys have been impressed by Hwang and with the Reds set to lose Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah to AFCON this summer, the thought of bringing the 25-year-old to Anfield is enticing.
There’s just one major problem. He’s on loan at Wolves and his temporary contract only expires in June 2022 which means if the Reds want him in January, they would need to reach an agreement with both Wolves and RB Salzburg.
Now, Michael Edwards has the opportunity to work another miracle for the Merseysiders before he heads off on his next adventure and, with the Daily Mirror claiming Liverpool want Hwang, he better get a move on.
The South Korean has 4 goals in 6 Premier League starts in just 607 minutes and based on that very limited data, it’s clear to see why Liverpool might be interested.
Of course, just as they watched Takumi Minamino before he moved to Anfield, Liverpool would have had their eyes on Hee-chan before Wolves signed him on loan.
That said, it seems unlikely he will join in the winter window as it would be based on limited experience in the Premier League but a move next year in the summer transfer window makes a lot more sense.
Manchester City are also interested and so the Reds will need to worry about being gazumped by their financially stronger rivals but if it comes down to a decision between the two clubs, Liverpool might have the edge due to Jurgen Klopp.
