Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate has barely played since he joined the club and Don Hutchison has urged Jurgen Klopp to play the French defender more.

The Reds’ best win of the season came against Manchester United when they ran out 5-0 victors – the biggest win at Old Trafford Liverpool have ever managed.

Konate acquitted himself expertly against Cristiano Ronaldo and earned supporters’ respect with the way he charged over when the Portuguese kicked Curtis Jones.

In total, Konate has played just 360 minutes this season since his £36million move to Anfield and Don Hutchison has urged Klopp to give him more opportunities in the starting XI.

Speaking on ESPN, Hutchinson believes Konate can come into the side and add fresh legs after a tired performance against West Ham United.

He said: “I think it’s probably time now for Jurgen Klopp to give Konate a go alongside van Dijk. I think Konate has been immense in the couple of games he played this season.

“He played in the Manchester United game where he kept the clean sheet and looked really really solid alongside van Dijk.

“Against West Ham I thought Liverpool looked leggy, they looked a bit tired and a bit jaded, so maybe it’s time for Jurgen Klopp to freshen it up, Tsimikas has come in and done quite, but I think it’s time for Konate to play alongside van Dijk.”
