It’s unclear whether or not Thiago and Fabinho will be able to take part in Liverpool’s fourth Champions League clash of the season but they were both in training on Monday.
The Liverpool Echo reports that they were both spotted at the AXA Training Centre as the Reds prepare for their next Champions League clash.
Naby Keita hobbled off the pitch against Brighton on Saturday as he was forced off by a hamstring injury. But thankfully his absence could be filled by Thiago and Fabinho returning to fitness.
The Spaniard has been missing for over a month and has missed 10 games with a calf injury. However his return will be very welcome as Liverpool have dropped points in games where a controlling presence was very much needed.
The 2-2 draw with Manchester City springs to mind as a prime example and conceding a two-goal lead to Brighton is the latest example of Liverpool’s inability to control games without the former Bayern Munich star.
I won’t bang on about it too much yet not replacing Georginio Wijnaldum was something that was obviously an issue. However, not many predicted it would be exposed so early into the season.
Fortunately, Thiago and Fabinho are back in training and will soon return to the pitch.
The latter was also a massive miss at the weekend as Graham Potter’s men scythed through Liverpool’s midfield with ease and, with slightly better timing, Leandro Trossard could have won the game for the Seagulls but he was adjudged to have scored an offside winner.
Hopefully, Naby Keita’s injury isn’t too serious and Thiago and Fabinho can remain fit, so Klopp can have his best midfield options available for the festive period.
