Dusan Vlahovic has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool over the last several months and now Fabrizio Romano says he could leave in January or next summer.
A week ago my colleague, Alex Caple, covered the latest links to Fiorentina’s hitman.
La Nazione claims that Liverpool want the striker but that the Serie A outfit will demand as much as £60m to get a deal across the line in January or in the summer.
Fabrizio Romano reports that the Serbian forward has rejected a contract offer from Fiorentina and could leave as soon as January or in the summer.
Vlahovic was in fine form at the weekend as he struck a hat-trick against Spezia to take his tally for the Serie A season to 8.
He is not like any of the forwards Jurgen Klopp already has at Anfield, yet he could perform a similar role to Robert Lewandowski when the Polish no.9 worked with the Liverpool manager at Borussia Dortmund.
Neither are blessed with exceptional pace but are sharpshooters that work hard to win the ball back. While Vlahovic is nothing like Diogo Jota or Roberto Firmino, he would be an unbelievable player under Klopp’s guidance.
Last season, the young attacker scored 21 goals and, while I questioned whether or not he could replicate that form, he’s doing exactly that and is relishing being the main man for Fiorentina.
Nicknamed the ‘Purple Bomber, Vlahovic is clearly a player that is capable under pressure and, if he moved to Liverpool, that’s an important trait as the expectations of playing for the Reds are huge.
This will be an interesting story to follow in the next couple of months. If Liverpool’s interest is genuine, he could be a very interesting option to bring in during the January window when Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah are at the Africa Cup of Nations.
