Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to reports that Memphis Depay could be Anfield-bound this summer.
Indeed, the Reds have been linked with a number of attacking talents in recent months, notably Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe.
However, reports from The Athletic suggest that any hopes of signing the aforementioned duo are ‘fanciful’.
Instead, Liverpool will look to uncharted areas of the market for a potential bargain. And that is where Depay comes into the equation.
Depay, who according to Marca, is also wanted by Barcelona and Juventus, will be a free agent this summer, after all. His contract with Lyon is due to expire at the end of the season.

The 62-time Netherlands international has scored 15 goals and clocked up nine assists in all competitions from 31 appearances this term.
In fact, Depay has amassed a whopping 121 goal contributions in 169 appearances for Lyon in total since signing for them from Manchester United in a £31 million [BBC] deal back in June 2015.
At 27, Depay would not demand a transfer fee at all unless Lyon can convince him to sign an extension. As it stands, however, he is expected to leave on a Bosman deal in the coming months.
If there is one thing that Liverpool and FSG’s self-sustaining transfer model has shown us in recent years – even when they signed the world-class Thiago Alcantara for a cut-price £25m last summer – is that opportunistic signings can be struck if they are made available to the Reds.
