Thiago sends Instagram message after Liverpool draw Real Madrid

Thiago Alcantara has the chance to play against his old Spanish rivals Real Madrid, after Liverpool were drawn to face Los Blancos in the Champions League quarter-finals.

The Reds have discovered their potential opponents the competitions last-eight, with Liverpool due to face either FC Porto or Chelsea in the semi-finals – should they progress past Madrid.

Thiago reacts on Instagram

Thiago, 29, sent a message to supporters on his Instagram page highlighting his excitement for the opportunity to face-off against the 13-time European Cup holders.

A game with all to play for

Ironically, this will be the first meeting between Jurgen Klopp and Zinedine Zidane since the two went head-to-head in the 2018 final.

Madrid prevailed as 3-1 victors on the night, although we tend to avoid total recollection of that damning evening in Kiev.

So, Liverpool will be travelling to Spain next month with a sense of revenge, especially Mohamed Salah, who was involved in a heavily-discussed incident with Sergio Ramos.

Thiago will be desperate to get one over Real Madrid, too. He was eliminated from the Champions League on three separate occasions at the hands of Los Blancos during his time with Bayern Munich.

For this reason, Thiago will be determined to make an impact against his former El Classico rivals following his eight-year spell with Barcelona.
