Joe Gomez took another significant step in his recovery as he returned to solo training at Liverpool’s AXA Training Centre.
Gomez, 23, posted an update on his Instagram of himself putting in the hard yards in the gym, as well as doing some ball work before taking to the main pitches to do some running exercises.
The England international, who has been out of action since November, was filmed training alongside a fitness coach as he continues to work towards a return to full fitness.
Gomez suffered a serious knee injury while on international duty last year, which resulted in the player later requiring surgery.
This isn’t the player’s first significant setback, either, which means Gomez can hopefully utilise his previous experiences with recovery to his advantage.

He was pictured at the AXA Training Centre for the first time back in January, undergoing some light sessions in the gym and the pool.
Gomez, too, was recently spotted alongside his centre-back partner, Virgil van Dijk, who also has seen his season blighted by a serious knee injury.
Joel Matip, Jurgen Klopp’s only other senior centre-back option, also suffered a season-ending setback at the beginning of the year.
Klopp expects Van Dijk and Gomez to miss Euros
Klopp confirmed at the weekend that he doesn’t expect either Gomez or Van Dijk to participate in this summer’s European Championships.
“It is not my decision [for the Euros] but to be honest the information I have in the moment is that it will be unlikely,” Klopp said.
“So it is not that I don’t let them go, because I don’t want to have to do that any way, it is because of the extent of the injuries.
“We all hope they will be ready to start pre-season with us, that’s what we all hope. With Joel it is pretty much the same.
“These are really serious injuries and it is now not about talking about which competition they play.
“As far as I know – and I am always open for positive surprises and they all of a sudden turn up in team training but no-one told me that.
“The two of them (Van Dijk and Gomez) look better than Joel as he is still in what looks like ski boots.
“Virgil is already running but this is a real tough one.
“We will be completely over the moon when they are ready to train with us for the start of pre-season but the Euros I didn’t think about it.
“When do you have to be back to be ready to play in the Euros? The week before? The day the Euros start? I don’t know.
“I understand maybe the need of that but we cannot make this decision and we will not. They will be fit when they are fit.”
While neither Gomez or Van Dijk are likely to represent their respective countries this summer, the latter did take the time to message his Liverpool teammate and defensive counterpart on Instagram.
Gomez’s international and former Reds teammate, Danny Ings, also reached out to the London-born defender via social media.
