Some Liverpool fans react to injury reports regarding Nat Phillips

Some Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction after emerging reports surfaced around Anfield eluding to a potential injury to centre-back Nathaniel Phillips.

The news won’t come as too much of a shock to Kopites, who have already seen the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip have their campaigns shattered through injury.

So, with Jordan Henderson and Ben Davies also added to the equation, Liverpool are currently six central defensive options down, with Ozan Kabak and Fabinho becoming Jurgen Klopp’s 19th alternate centre-back pairing this season.

Ahead of the clash with Chelsea on Thursday evening, Liverpool manager Klopp said that Phillips wasn’t included in the squad as a result of injury.

When questioned about his team selection prior to the defeat against Thomas Tuchel’s Blues, per The Mirror, Klopp said: “Nate is out.”

Reaction to Phillips setback

Understandably, a number of Liverpool fans have been left far from happy with Klopp forced to cope and adapt following another defensive casualty.

If another injury setback wasn’t enough for Klopp, Liverpool added another unwanted piece of Anfield history with their latest defeat. Remarkably, it’s been 10 hours since the Reds scored from open play at their once fortress home ground.

This is made to look even more concerning when you consider the fact that it took five years and three months for Klopp to have lost his first four league home matches.

Suddenly, Liverpool’s 68-match unbeaten run at Anfield seems like a lifetime ago. It is barely believable that it was only in January that Liverpool went just under four years without defeat in the league at home.

These really do feel like desperate times for the champions.
