David de Gea and Raheem Sterling have sent messages of condolences to the family and friends of Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker following the death of his father.
Jose Becker died in a swimming-related incident in his native country of Brazil.
The 57-year-old was reported missing to local police on Wednesday afternoon before his body was found by the fire department later that day.
Various reports across Brazil emerged in the early hours of Thursday morning before the tragic news was confirmed by both Fluminense and Sao Paulo’s official Twitter accounts.
Alisson’s father was a major influence on his son’s decision to become a goalkeeper at junior level.

In 2018, the Brazil No.1 said: “I have a family of goalkeepers.
“My father played for his work team, my mother played handball in school, and my grandfather played in amateur football.
“And after all this, came my brother playing and then I started to like it, too.”
The tragic news has seen a number of the football community come together to pay their respects.
And that includes Manchester United goalkeeper De Gea and Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling.
His Liverpool teammate Virgil van Dijk and former Reds captain Steven Gerrard also took to social media to pay their respects.
Everyone at Rousing the Kop sends their condolences to Alisson, as well as his family and friends.
