Mino Raiola has his say on Erling Haaland reports amid Liverpool interest

Erling Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola has said that there are four English clubs who have the financial firepower to sign the Borussia Dortmund superstar amid reported Liverpool interest.

Haaland, 20, has scored a whopping 27 goals this season and has quickly emerged as one of the best strikers on the continent.

A generational talent

Several elite clubs including Liverpool have been touted with an active interest in signing the Norwegian international.

According to EuroSport, Liverpool are ‘in the picture’ for Haaland’s signature. The same publication tipped the former RB Salzburg striker to be Jurgen Klopp’s next big signing back in November.

Interestingly, Haaland’s agent Raiola has hinted that his client would consider making a switch to the Premier League.

“It is obvious that everybody is looking at Erling as one of those potential new future stars because it’s so difficult to do what he does at his age at his level,” Raiola told BBC Sport.

“Only a maximum of 10 clubs can afford to buy [Haaland] and give the platform you would like after you’ve been in Dortmund — and four of those clubs are in [England].

“I don’t think there’s a sports director or trainer in the world who would say ‘not interested’.

“It’s like saying: ‘Is there a Formula 1 team who would not be interested in having Lewis Hamilton?”

What RTK has to say

Let’s be honest, it’s not exactly surprising to see the notorious Raiola very open to the prospect of one of his biggest clients securing a big-money move away from Dortmund.

The real question that remains is how soon will Haaland choose to take his footballing talents elsewhere?

BBC Sport recently reported that Dortmund could be forced to sell as early as this summer, given the financial hit the club has taken as a result of the pandemic.

This could put Liverpool’s name in the hat as early as this summer if Dortmund want to negotiate a higher transfer fee before his £66 million release clause kicks into effect in 2022.

Qualifying for the Champions League, then, will be paramount for Liverpool if they are to consider themselves one of the front-runners if Haaland does indeed become available this summer.
