Liverpool supporters have taken to Twitter after the Reds were touted with an interest in signing Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.
This comes from The Mail. The Reds have been mooted as one of several Premier League clubs looking to land the talented teenager in the summer transfer window. Manchester United and Manchester City are among the other listed interested parties.
Who is he?
Branthwaite, 18, was signed by Carlo Ancelotti back in January 2020, having impressed in League Two with Carlisle United prior to the switch to Goodison Park.
The imposing 6ft 5in centre-back is currently enjoying a loan spell in the Championship with Blackburn Rovers, with the likes of Michael Keane, Mason Holgate, Yerry Mina and Ben Godfrey ahead of Branthwaite in the Everton defensive pecking order.
He has clocked up seven appearances under Tony Mowbray since making the switch to Ewood Park alongside Liverpool loanee Harvey Elliott.

As a left-footed centre-back, Branthwaite ticks a lot of boxes in terms of his physical and technical attributes. However, the prospect of Everton selling one of their prized assets to Liverpool is a precarious one.
It’s not completely unfounded for a player to have represented both the red and blue half of Merseyside, although it’s certainly rarer in the modern game.
The likes of Sander Westeveld, Nick Barmby, Steve McMahon and Don Hutchison are amongst an array of high-profile names to have played for both Liverpool and Everton.
Still, this isn’t enough to suggest that Branthwaite could be set to follow a similar path to that of the aforementioned all-stars. Everton won’t want to lose a top-young talent, especially to their nearest and dearest rivals.
Indeed, Liverpool have seen their squad decimated, particularly in the centre-back department this season, but looking for solutions at Goodison Park doesn’t seem like a viable option.
Unsurprisingly, Liverpool’s reported interest in one of Everton’s top talents has left a number of supporters perplexed.
