Liverpool are interested in signing Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite, according to reports.
This comes from The Mail. They say that the Reds are prepared to join Manchester City and Manchester United in the race to sign the talented teenager from their local rivals.
Who is he?
Everton signed the 18-year-old centre-back in January 2020, paying £1 million after Branthwaite burst onto the scene with Carlisle United in League 2.
Branthwaite is contracted at Goodison Park until 2022.
Having struggled for game-time under Carlo Ancelotti, the England youth international has been sent out on loan with Blackburn Rovers in the Championship.

He has clocked up seven appearances under Tony Mowbray since making the switch to Ewood Park last month.
Coming in at a towering 6ft 5in, Branthwaite ticks a lot of boxes in terms of defensive qualities. Justifying Liverpool’s reported interest in the left-footed centre-back, however, is certainly a difficult proposition.
Could a move happen?
It’s unlikely that Everton would be willing to allow one of their top talents to make the short trip across Stanley Park to seal an Anfield switch.
Indeed, Branthwaite looks like a talented player, but his allegiances to Goodison Park should immediately rule out any Liverpool interest.
Also, Liverpool already have a number of talented upcoming defenders from their own academy in the form of Rhys Williams, Billy Koumetio and Sepp van den Berg.
With that said, it seems inconceivable that there is any real traction for supporters to get behind in such a move materialising in the coming months.
