Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter following reports that the Reds are making efforts to secure Caoimhín Kelleher’s long-term future by opening talks on a contract extension, per The Irish Examiner.
Kelleher, 22, has 17 months remaining on his current Anfield deal, which he signed back in 2018. However, having clocked up five senior appearances this season, Liverpool are intent on making the Irishman’s contractual situation an immediate priority.
The Reds academy graduate has recently overtaking the experienced Adrian as Liverpool’s natural deputy to Alisson Becker and second-choice shot-stopper.
Kelleher, a Republic of Ireland international, was handed his Premier League and Champions League debuts this season under manager Jurgen Klopp, in impressive wins against Ajax and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Currently sidelined with a knock, Kelleher is regarded as an integral component of Klopp’s long-term plans.
