Gladbach sporting director dismisses reports Florian Neuhaus will be joining Liverpool

Borussia Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl has dismissed claims that Florian Neuhaus could be about to leave the Bundesliga to secure a move to English champions Liverpool.

This comes from Tribal Football. They say the 23-year-old has been subject to growing Premier League interest.

Kicker, a credible German publication, have reported that Liverpool have ‘expressed interest’ in the Gladbach starlet.

Unfortunately, Liverpool aren’t alone in the race for the three-time Germany international. Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus are all keen to land Neuhaus’ signature, too.

Who is reported Liverpool target Neuhaus?

The former Dusseldorf talisman can operate in a variety of positions across the midfield, although he is best suited in a more central role.

For Gladbach, Neuhaus has been somewhat of a rare bright spark in an otherwise disappointing campaign for the Bundesliga giants.

He has six goals and six assists in all competitions this term, after all, as well as eight bookings which showcase he isn’t afraid to get stuck in and do the dirty work for his team.

One of his four league strikes in the German top-flight this term occurred during a stunning 3-2 victory over European champions Bayern – which is just one of five defeats Hansi Flick has sustained since taking charge at the Allianz Arena over a year ago.

What others are saying?

The report from Kicker adds that Neuhaus has a release clause inserted into his Gladbach contract. With that said, Liverpool could secure the Bundesliga ace’s services for a moderate £36 million asking-price (Sport 1).

Still, this hasn’t swayed the opinion of Gladbach sporting director Eberl, who has been left unimpressed by the circulating rumours concerning Neuhaus in recent weeks.

“If he will leave the club? With the best will in the world, I can’t imagine it. It’s nonsense, very simple,” Eberl says.

“We are always asked who could leave us and it is a bit disrespectful the way we are treated.”

Gladbach, who are scheduled to take on Pep Guardiola in the Champions League next week, despite whispers outside the club have managed to keep hold of a number of key players in recent transfer windows, despite outside noise from the media.

The likes of Alassane Plea, Matthias Ginter, Marcus Thuram, among others have all resisted the urge to take their talents outside the Borussia-Park stadium amid persistent transfer reports linking the aforementioned all-stars to other European clubs.

With that said, it demonstrates that Gladbach aren’t to be underestimated when it comes to protecting and preserving some of their most valuable assets.
