Some Kopites have taken to Twitter to react to reports that Liverpool are monitoring the situation of Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa.
This comes from The Athletic. They say Liverpool have expressed an interest in the 23-year-old centre-back.
Tottenham Hotspur have also been mentioned as a long-term admirer of Konsa, who is in contention for his first England call-up from Gareth Southgate, per The Athletic.
Indeed, the reports have sparked some confusion amongst supporters after Liverpool completed the deadline-day signings of Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies only a fortnight ago.
Also, Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez won’t be out forever, after all, with every hope that both players could be in contention for a return to fitness before the beginning of the 2020/21.

Should Liverpool choose to trigger the loan-to-buy option inserted into Kabak’s deal from Schalke, Jurgen Klopp, effectively, will have five centre-backs at his disposal for next season – not including Nat Phillips or Rhys Williams.
This makes the notion of adding another centre-back precarious, unless it were to be a guaranteed game-changer, which as we know, is incredibly hard to come by.
One player who had the potential to match that particular category of talent was RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano.
However, the imposing France international won’t be joining Liverpool this summer, having already pledged himself to Bayern Munich. An agreement has been put in place between the two German outfits for Upamecano to join the Allianz Arena at the beginning of next season.
Can Liverpool realistically sign Konsa?
So, having missed out on Upamecano, could Liverpool turn their attention to Konsa this summer?
In short, absolutely.
The former Brentford defender has been one of the Premier League’s standout defenders in the English top-flight this season, after all.
Alongside Tyrone Mings at the heart of Dean Smith’s defensive quartet, the pair have registered nine clean sheets, which has been bettered only by Manchester City this term.
The Villans are currently just four points adrift of champions Liverpool, having played two matches less.
Whether or not the Reds could put a deal in place to sign Konsa, however, could hinge on his ongoing contractual situation at Villa Park.
The Athletic reports that Smith is desperate to extend the Englishman’s future beyond its current expiry date in the summer of 2023.
If Konsa were to be swayed by the growing Premier League interest, he could be reluctant to commit himself to a new deal. This could prompt Villa, then, to sell if a suitable offer were to be tabled for the London-born defender.
Let’s see what supporters had to say on social media regarding the reports concerning Liverpool and Konsa…
