Jose Enrique has leapt to the defence of Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker on Instagram, who has been heavily criticised in the media following high-profile recent errors against Manchester City and Leicester.
The English champions have lost three successive Premier League matches this month, with eight goals conceded during that period.
Alisson was at the heart of Liverpool’s troubles in both defeats that transpired against the two teams managed by Pep Guardiola and Brendan Rodgers.
Against City, Alisson twice surrendered possession to the Premier League’s in-form team, which on both occasions, were punished by the January Player of the Month, Ilkay Gundogan.
Meanwhile, at the King Power Stadium, Jurgen Klopp was forced to watch his goalkeeper involved in a calamitous misjudged collision with Liverpool debutant Ozan Kabak, which enabled Jamie Vardy to run the ball home into an empty net.

Still, amidst two rare occasions that Alisson made uncharacteristic mistakes, Enrique was quick to remind supporters how fantastic the Brazilian No.1 has been for the club ever since his £67 million [BBC] signing from Roma in 2018.
In response to Alisson’s recent performances, Enrique said: “For anyone who doubts this man just for two games. Short memory. Come on Alisson!”
What RTK has to say
Indeed, there is just criticism in Alisson’s recent performances, although it’s important that a sense of perspective is implied when scrutinising one of the world’s best goalkeepers.
His career at the home of the English champions has been almost faultless up until this point. In such a mentally demanding position, it’s normal even for the best to experience periods of struggle and self-doubt.
Still, this does alter how Alisson is viewed in the eyes of Kopites. They know all too well just how valuable he is to this team and will certainly back the 28-year-old shot-stopper to conjure up an emphatic response in the coming weeks.
