Liverpool are interested in the signing Denis Zakaria from Borussia Monchengladbach, according to reports. The 24-year-old midfielder has snubbed a contract extension with the German outfit and is intent on securing a summer move.
This comes from Bild. They say that Liverpool are one of several clubs looking to sign the Switzerland international.
Zakaria, who has been capped 28 times for his country, recently recovered from a serious knee injury and returned to action back in November.
Liverpool could be on the lookout for reinforcements in midfield, with Gini Wijnaldum’s contract due to expire this summer.
The 30-year-old has yet to agree terms with the club and is getting increasingly closer to a summer exit.

Meanwhile, the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Xherdan Shaqiri and Naby Keita continue to struggle with injury, which prompts a cause to dip into the market for added cover.
According to Bild, Gladbach are prepared to allow Zakaria to leave with the club reportedly already on the lookout for his replacement.
However, the report also adds that Jurgen Klopp won’t be alone in the race for the former Young Boys midfielder.
Premier League rivals Manchester City are also intent on bringing Zakaria to the English top-flight, while Diego Simeone and Atletico Madrid are also interested.
Let’s see what the Anfield faithful had to say on reports that Klopp could be in the market for another central midfielder this summer.
