This comes from Telefoot. They say that Julian Nagelsmann and his impressive German outfit are leading the race for Simakan’s signature, with a deal already in place.
ESPN backs this up, after reports emerged that a long-term contract is expected to be signed as early as this week.
Simakan recently suffered an ill-timed injury setback which hampered his chances of securing a January move, but the Marseille-born defender is seemingly close to linking up with the likes of Marcel Sabitzer and Dominik Szoboszlai at the Red Bull Arena.
In regards to Liverpool, Simakan has been identified as the long-term successor to Dayot Upamecano, who is currently being tracked by Bayern Munich, Chelsea and, of course, Liverpool, per BILD.

The Mirror, too, reports that Jurgen Klopp would welcome the opportunity to bring the imposing France international to Anfield, whose £38 million release clause comes into effect this summer.
What RTK has to say
So, it seems that Simakan’s reported arrival at Leipzig can work in Liverpool’s favour.
If these reports are true, it would indicate that Leipzig are already preparing for the seemingly inevitable summer exit of Upamecano.
It is no secret that Liverpool would benefit from a long-term addition at the heart of Klopp’s defensive back-line.
At 22, Upamecano already has 139 appearances for Leipzig in the German top-flight. He was integral to the club’s Champions League semi-final push last season, too.
In terms of a player who can offer offer an immediate injection of quality as well as longevity, Upamecano is arguably the best option currently on the transfer market.
If Simakan’s expected arrival at Leipzig accelerates Upamecano’s likely exit, then Liverpool have to be ready to swoop.
