Liverpool fans react as Reds set to miss out on Kayky to Manchester City

Numerous reports have claimed that Liverpool are set to miss out on the signing of Brazilian wonderkid Kayky, as the teenager closes in on a move to Manchester City – and Reds fans have responded.

Kayky, 17, has been on Jurgen Klopp’s radar for some time now, with reports from The Daily Star claiming Liverpool have been tracking the Fluminense attacker for 12 months.

According to Football Talent Scout, as quoted by Jogada 10, Kayky is a left footed Neymar.

However, the Brazil youth international now looks intent on securing a transfer to the Etihad Stadium, with City working on securing a work permit.

Liverpool previously benefited from the talents of an up-and-coming rising star from Fluminense following the successful acquisition of Marcelo Pitaluga.

The Brazilian shot-stopper has heavily featured under Barry Lewtas since signing from his homeland last summer.

He has started in three of the under-23’s previous four Premier League 2 matches.

A report from Brazilian publication Netflu claimed that Liverpool hoped to land Kayky thanks to the recent signing of Pitaluga.

However, this no longer appears to be the case after Fabrizio Romano confirmed that City were finalising a €17million (£15million) deal for Kayky, with almost half of that in add-ons.

Romano adds that a number of Spanish clubs were tracking the availability of Kayky, but it’s Pep Guardiola who has won the race and is set to join the Manchester club in 2022, once his work permit is obtained.

Liverpool supporters have since reacted on Twitter to the reported news that their club is set to miss out on signing the Brazilian ace. One fan made the strong claim that the Reds could be set to miss out on the next Phil Foden.
