Jose Enrique has encouraged Jurgen Klopp to reinstate a midfield triumvirate of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Thiago Alcantara for Liverpool’s all-important Premier League encounter against Leicester City on Saturday.
The former Liverpool defender said as such on his Instagram page. He also welcomed the centre-back pairing of deadline-day duo Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies to make their Premier League debuts at the King Power Stadium.
Klopp is yet to combine the talents of Thiago, Fabinho and Henderson in midfield since October 17, where Liverpool were held to a 2-2 draw at Goodison Park against Everton.
Both Henderson and Fabinho have been heavily utilised out of position following the unprecedented season-ending injuries to three of Klopp’s senior centre-backs.
And as a result, Liverpool have suffered heavily in their performances, losing four of their previous six matches.

The Reds are currently 10 points off league leaders Manchester City, despite having played a game more. Liverpool’s focus is now on securing a top-four finish with their title defence suddenly out of the equation.
And Enrique thinks reinstating the likes of Henderson, Thiago and Fabinho could go a long way to getting things back on track for Klopp and Liverpool.
“Good morning everyone! This will be my midfield for the game against Leicester this weekend playing Davies and Kabak as a centre,” he said.
“Which one it will be your midfield and centre backs? I’m sure we are going to bounce back and beat Leicester at the weekend. Come on reds!!”
What RTK has to say
Getting the balance in midfield right has remained one of the biggest challenges of the 2020/21 campaign for Klopp.
Henderson and Fabinho haven’t played in their preferred positions at all since the turn of the New Year, while Thiago has suffered as a consequence of constant rotation in the team.
Indeed, both makeshift defenders have done a job for Klopp in the absence of key personnel. However, the real problem is that Liverpool are then denied their presence further up the pitch.
Klopp’s best midfield of Henderson, Fabinho and Thiago, as Enrique previously eluded to, have started just one game together all season.
Taking a gamble to utilise Kabak and Davies together, then, could be of immediate interest to Klopp against Leicester. The combination of the deadline-day duo will finally enable Fabinho and Henderson to operate where they are most effective.
