Liverpool have been tipped by Stan Collymore to make a sensational bid for Tottenham Hotspur front-man Harry Kane – and supporters have reacted on Twitter.
The former Reds star says Liverpool require a player of the England captain’s calibre if they are to remain competitive with Manchester City next season.
Jurgen Klopp saw his team’s title credentials thrown into disarray following the 4-1 defeat to Pep Guardiola’s side on Sunday.
Liverpool’s pedigreed front-three are currently embarking on their fourth season together following it’s origin at the beginning of the 2017/18 campaign. The likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are closing in on 300 goals since their establishment nearly four years ago.
However, the latter’s spot, in particular, has come into question this season, with the Brazilian’s form dwindling considerably over the past 12 months.

Firmino, 28, has just seven goals in his previous 38 league matches, after all.
Collymore urges Klopp to move for Kane
Collymore, who clocked up 81 appearances for Liverpool from 1995 to 1997, has urged Liverpool to consider bringing in a proven ready-made addition to bolster Klopp’s attacking line-up next season.
And as a result, he has encouraged the Reds to make an extraordinary bid to sign Kane, who has provided 24 goal contributions in just 20 games for Jose Mourinho’s Lilywhites this season.
“You have to look at these things over four or five years and Liverpool will still be in the title talk in each of them,” Collymore wrote in his Daily Mirror column.
“That said, they do need to wake up and smell the coffee, which means owners FSG spending money to go toe-to-toe with City in that period.
“It means that if City go out and buy Erling Haaland this summer, then Liverpool must buy the next Robert Lewandowski or even put in a bid for Harry Kane.
“What they can’t do is just say, ‘We have a really good XI, some youngsters coming through, and we can maintain our challenges that way’, because there are too many other teams with the money to make sure that won’t be the case.”
According to transfermarkt, Kane currently has a market of £108 million.
