Liverpool fans react to Carragher claims regarding Ozan Kabak

Jamie Carragher has encouraged Jurgen Klopp to select Ozan Kabak for Liverpool’s clash against Manchester City on Sunday – and Kopites have reacted on Twitter.

The English champions go into the fixture seven points behind Pep Guardiola’s league leaders, despite having played a game more. There is added pressure, then, for Liverpool to get a result.

To do so, the Reds will have to drastically improve, especially at Anfield, with Liverpool currently enduring a four-match winless run at a ground which had previously gone 1369 days without defeat in the Premier League.

Carragher on Kabak

One strategy that has been suggested by former Liverpool defender Carragher to get Liverpool back on track is to bring in deadline-day signing Kabak into Klopp’s starting XI.

This would enable Jordan Henderson to return to his midfield duties, which has quickly become the most vulnerable area of the team.

Carragher wants Liverpool’s talismanic skipper back in his naturally suited role which was so integral in the team running away with the title last season.

“What is obvious is for Liverpool to have any chance of retaining the title, they must win on Sunday,” he said, per The Telegraph.

“I doubt even that would be enough now. Knowing that is the case, I hope Klopp gives Kabak his debut, thus allowing Jordan Henderson to return to midfield and giving Liverpool a more familiar look in several positions.

“Klopp may be reluctant to throw in a new player against such a quality side. It feels low risk given where Liverpool are.

“It’s a big ask for Kabak and Davies, but it is sink or swim at this level.”

It still remains to be seen whether or not Klopp will entrust the seven-time Turkey international to make his Premier League debut against City.

According to The Mirror, however, Klopp will go with experience against Guardiola, with Fabinho and Henderson at the heart of Liverpool’s defence.

The pair started together recently during the 0-0 stalemate against Manchester United last month.
