Adam Lallana gave Liverpool a reminder of his quality both on and off the pitch as he helped Brighton to a rare win over Jurgen Klopp’s English champions.
He may have been on the pitch just a little over 30 minutes, but he still made a lasting impact upon his return to Anfield.
In his cameo role against his former club, Lallana made one key pass for his team and had a perfect pass success rate of 100 per cent.
Now 32, Lallana has settled into his new role under manager Graham Potter.
It certainly was an emotional evening for Lallana to come out on top against the club he won both the Premier League and Champions League with, as well as making 178 appearances for.

Following his side’s win, he sent a respectable message out, and expressed how special it was to reunite with former players and staff he considers as ‘family’.
Remarkably, Adam Lallana is one Liverpool player who remains unbeaten in the league at Anfield since April 2017 following on from Brighton’s historic win.
Jurgen Klopp, especially holds the former England international in high esteem, too. The Liverpool boss couldn’t resist but give Lallana a glowing mention in the matchday programme, per the club’s official website.
“Our visitors today have many talented players but there is one we are very familiar with at LFC,” Klopp said.
“I will have to stop myself saying too much on Adam Lallana because I could write a book. And I have to be respectful to the fact he is our opponent today… he wants to beat us and we him.
“But I must mention what a special person he was for us – and in truth remains so. When he left, I described him as a Liverpool legend for his contribution and I read somewhere recently he felt a little embarrassed by that. But he absolutely shouldn’t. It’s a status he has earned and then some.
“Thirty-six Premier League matches a season I look forward to seeing Adam play. There are two when I do not… today is one of those.”
Lallana was a fan-favourite at Anfield with his full-throttle technical style and passion on full display.
It is good to see he has not changed, even if it did mean getting one over his former employer.
