Liverpool are interested in the prospect of signing Sheffield United central defender Kyron Gordon, according to reports.
This comes from The Mail. They claim that the Reds are ready to battle Merseyside rivals Everton for the talented 18-year-old.
Gordon is yet to make his senior debut for the Blades but was in the squad for the FA Cup win against Bristol Rovers earlier this month.
The Reds have already acquired the talent of another up-and-coming youngster this week in the form of Derby County’s Kaide Gordon.
According to Sky Sports, Liverpool have a £1 million deal in place to sign the 16-year-old who was handed his Championship debut last month by Wayne Rooney.
Liverpool are also in the market for Brazilian wonderkid Kayky, according to reports.
This comes from UOL Esporte. They claim the Reds have contacted the teenager’s club side Fluminense to gain a broader analysis on the starlet.
So, it seems like Liverpool are making sufficient steps in preparing for the future. The signing of United defender Gordon would be another step in the right direction, then.
However, this doesn’t aid Liverpool’s short-term needs with even Jurgen Klopp adamant that a senior centre-back addition would benefit the Reds in the absence of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.
Indeed, Gordan is an exciting prospect for the future, but supporters want to see a ready-made come into the club before the window ends.
Time is running out for Liverpool, too. The market is due to close is just a few days time, after all.
