One player who is of genuine interest to Liverpool in the transfer market is Brighton defender Ben White, according to reports. The Reds scouted the centre-back extensively last season during his loan spell at Leeds United.
This comes from The ECHO. They believe that Liverpool are currently working on a strategy to sign the 23-year-old this summer.
There have been numerous reports in recent weeks naming Liverpool in connection with a number of defensive targets. The likes of Sergio Ramos, David Alaba and Sven Botman are amongst the highest-profile names.
Despite these persistent links, Brighton defender White is of genuine interest to Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool.
The Reds were aware of the interest in White before the former Newport Country talent signed a new contract at the Amex back in September.

However, club officials remain confident that a future deal can be restored. The detailed scouting assessment was done with a long-term view, after all.
The ECHO says that Liverpool work to a system that enables them to search the market with a two-year plan. This effectively means the assessment of White was done so with a view to act in the summer of 2021.
Klopp has previously ruled out the possibility of Liverpool adding a centre back this month. With that said, it seems White’s ongoing development in the Premier League will be met with acute focus from Anfield officials.
What RTK has to say
One of the main attractions regarding Liverpool’s interest in White has stemmed from the player’s versatility.
White effectively can fill up a number of positions across the defensive backline – he can also play in defensive midfield.
As we’ve seen throughout the defensive crisis this term, Klopp is a big admirer of players he can call upon to fill specific roles. This is among one of several reasons why Fabinho has been arguably Liverpool’s most important player of 2020/21.
His durability, too, makes him an attractive prospect to pursue in the summer market. White has started all but one of Brighton’s 17 Premier League matches this season, after all .
This, among many other reasons makes it easy to see why Liverpool maintain an active interest in the in-demand defender.
Given his age, experience and relatively moderate price rolled into one, Liverpool have the making for another potential defensive masterstroke in the transfer market.
