Liverpool will not be making any defensive additions in the January transfer window, according to reports. Unsurprisingly, a number of supporters are far from happy.
The report comes from The Athletic, who claim the likes of Dayot Upamecano, Ozan Kabak and Ben White will not be joining the English champions this month, despite persistent links to each of those players.
As a result, supporters weren’t best pleased with the update surrounding Liverpool’s course of action for January.
The Reds are currently without Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip, after all.
With that said, Liverpool have had to rely on the likes of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to combat the club’s defensive injuries.

This doesn’t seem like a sustainable approach, especially when you consider Van Dijk and Gomez could be out for the season.
Indeed, things can still change if the availability and cost were to align towards a player in the coming weeks.
For now, however, Klopp remains intent on utilising internal solutions to help bolster their defensive options. Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips will continue to provide cover, then.
Liverpool pride themselves on a clear strategy and long-term planning when it comes to transfer activity. The club don’t entertain quick-fixes. If they can’t get who they want, they sit tight until they can.
It has to be said, James Pearce is a very credible source, so this report should be taken seriously.
