Liverpool want Lille defender Sven Botman, according to reports. Former Southampton defender Jose Fonte has added fuel to the fire, in regards to a potential move.
French outlet Foot Mercato claims Liverpool like the look of Botman. The publication believes the Reds contacted Botman’s representatives during November.
While originally open to a £45 million deal, Lille’s financial troubles could see Liverpool strike a deal for a cut-price £27m.
The 20-year-old has the highest duel success rate in Ligue 1 this season joining the French top-flight from Ajax last summer in an £8m deal.
A move Botman in many regards makes a lot of sense. Liverpool do have a lack of options at the back, after all, with Van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez all injured.
