According to James Pearce of The Athletic, Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara could be involved in either of the upcoming clashes against Newcastle United or Southampton.
Thiago, 29, is still yet to feature for Liverpool since October 17 when he sustained a knee injury during the 2-2 draw with Everton.
The former Bayern Munich maestro has clocked up just 135 minutes of action since completing a £20 million move from the Allianz Arena last summer.
It has been quite the road to recovery for Thiago, and finally, his long-awaited return from injury could be imminent in the coming days.
Speaking in a Q&A on Sunday, Pearce outlined that Wednesday’s trip to St James’ Park or next Monday’s away clash with Southampton as a potential return date for Thiago.

What RTK has to say
It will be a timely boost to have Thiago back in the team, especially in the aftermath of the dour affair with West Bromwich Albion on Sunday.
Such a gifted and technically footballer would certainly have made a difference against the Baggies. Thiago could have unpicked that crucial final pass that was glaringly lacking during the 1-1 stalemate last night.
His guile and ability to bend the game to his will is something that Liverpool’s other midfielders lack. Thiago is undoubtedly one of the greatest and technically gifted midfielders of his generation – his return will undoubtedly make the Reds stronger.
The Merseyside derby was evidence of what Thiago can bring during crucial moments after his beautifully disguised pass picked out Sadio Mane, who teed up Jordan Henderson for what should have been an iconic late winning goal.
His imminent return immediately enhances Liverpool’s aspirations in retaining their Premier League title.
