Jurgen Klopp claimed he was completely unaware that Sadio Mane‘s recent nine-game goalless run represented his longest drought since joining Liverpool in 2016.
Mane, 28, joined the Reds from Southampton over four years ago and has since established himself as one of the best forward players in world football.
To date, the Senegalese speedster – has clocked up 190 appearances for Liverpool, scoring a whopping 87 goals and laying up 38 assists.
However, prior to the 7-0 victory against Crystal Palace last weekend, Mane was in his worst goalscoring drought as a Red, failing to score in eight consecutive PL matches since October 17.
That record was swiftly put to bed at Selhurst Park as Liverpool’s grip on their Premier League title was strengthened – moving four points clear at the summit.

Klopp himself, was completely oblivious to the fact that Mane was undergoing somewhat of a goalscoring drought and claimed had he bet on the matter, he would have lost everything.
“Honestly, I would have lost everything if I had to bet on how many goals Sadio had scored in the last games,” Klopp said.
“Who cares? He played exceptionally well.”
What RTK has to say
The fact that Mane’s goalscoring exploits took a slight dip, yet Liverpool were still able to continuously win matches is testament to the relentless mentality Klopp has instilled across all aspects of the club.
In those nine league games, Mane was subject to just one goal, Liverpool have recorded seven wins, scored 23 goals and have conceded just six times.
It’s also worth noting that even in the midst of a somewhat lull in form, Mane has still been able to clock up six goals and four assists this season – it’s scary to think how those numbers can change with Mane back at his best.
