Six key Liverpool players back in full training after the international break

Jurgen Klopp will have been delighted to have had a full session with the bulk of his first-team squad after a number of key players returned to training as preparations continued for the clash with Premier League leaders Leicester City on Sunday.

The likes of Georginio Wijnaldum, Roberto Firmino, Alisson Becker, Takumi Minamino, Xherdan Shaqiri and Kostas Tsimikas ensured the set of returning international stars was completed on Friday evening.

All six of the aforementioned names were pictured back at Liverpool’s new AXA Training Centre having represented their respective national sides over the past week.

Wijnaldum returns off the back of captaining Holland to two crucial victories in the Nations League over the past few days.

The 30-year-old was named stand-in skipper in the absence of Virgil van Dijk and he rewarded manager Frank de Boer by scoring twice during a 3-1 over Bosnia and Herzegovina on Sunday.

Having bagged a brace three days prior, Wijnaldum then came up with the winner this time around to give his country an all-important 2-1 win in Poland.

Firmino and Alisson were fresh off the back of a 2-0 World Cup qualifying victory against Uruguay on Tuesday with the former featuring the full 90 minutes while the latter was an unused substitute.

Minamino returned to Merseyside following a substitute appearance for Japan during a 2-0 friendly defeat to Mexico on Tuesday night.

Shaqiri was last in action the previous Saturday during a 1-1 Nations League stalemate with Spain, while Tsimikas represented Greece in the 0-0 draw with Slovenia on Wednesday.
