There have been a few interesting candidates thrown into the transfer rumour mill in recent weeks, yet the latest report crediting Liverpool with an interest for a certain European star certainly takes the gold for most absurd – and many supporters have reacted on Twitter to such bizarre notions.
Liverpool have been linked with a move for Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos as per 90Min which claims the English champions are battling with a number of Premier League rivals for the Spaniard’s signature.
Ramos, 34, is yet to sign a new deal with the 13-time European Cup winners. He is expected to receive an offer from Los Blancos, while Paris Saint Germain are also said to be courting with the lure of an eye-watering contract offer.
His current contract at the Bernabeu is due to expire at the end of the 2020/21 campaign, as per transfermarkt.
He has won everything there is to win for both club and country and is highly regarded as one of the greatest serial winners in modern times, yet this does not warrant genuine cause for Liverpool to seek out a move for Ramos.
After all, it wasn’t too long ago the former Sevilla defender starred in his role as pantomime villain during the 2018 Champions League final which saw Mohamed Salah leave the field following a tangling with Ramos and resulted in a should injury which inevitably cost Liverpool the final.
This is just one of many reasons coupled by wages, age and profile as to why it is extremely difficult to comprehend why the Reds would ever consider pursuing a move.
And such ridiculous notions have been something that Liverpool fans have been quick to point out on Twitter when the news broke on Thursday.
