Thiago Alcantara could be set to make his full-Premier League debut for Liverpool against Everton this afternoon.

The Spain international hasn’t featured under Jurgen Klopp since his second-half cameo against Chelsea in the 2-0 victory at Stamford Bridge last month.

Thiago, 29, despite making his Liverpool debut was still able to break a Premier League record for the highest amount of successful passes (74) in a 45-minute period.

It was a masterful performance of the highest order from a player who has immediately captured the hearts of Kopites since signing from Bayern Munich earlier this summer.

However, his early momentum was quickly blighted after Thiago tested positive for COVID-19 and was forced to miss Liverpool’s recent matches against Arsenal and Aston Villa.

He has since recovered and has completed his self-isolation process which saw Thiago return to training earlier this week. The former Barcelona maestro is expected to start in the Merseyside derby and has sent a message to Liverpool supporters ahead of the clash.

This is a huge boost for Jurgen Klopp and the Premier League champions; not only because he is one of the best footballers in the world, but also because it’s the first occasion where Thiago, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson are all fit and eligible for selection.

Liverpool are yet to use what many are calling Klopp’s best possible midfield triumvirate and considering the Reds are up against an Everton side who have made a 100 per cent start to the season and are top of the Premier League table, the manager will need as many of his squad available as possible.

It’s an epic clash between the champions and the league leaders, a game worthy for a player of Thiago’s calibre to make his first starting berth in English football.
