Jurgen Klopp was given a major fitness boost ahead of Saturday’s Merseyside derby clash with Everton after the bulk of his Liverpool players returned to training on Thursday following international duty.

Roberto Firmino and Fabinho, who were both selected for Brazil’s World Cup qualifying victory against Peru in the early hours of Wednesday morning were among those involved at Melwood.

The latter was an unused substitute in both fixtures during the international break which could mean Fabinho is primed and ready for a starting berth at Goodison Park tomorrow afternoon.

Naby Keita was the only notable absentee from the session as Liverpool look to lick their wounds following their 7-2 defeat at Villa Park moments before the players jetted off for their respective national team duties.

Liverpool club-captain Jordan Henderson, who clocked up 15 minutes for England during the Nations League defeat to Denmark at Wembley, was also involved while unused substitutes Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold also returned.

Andy Robertson, Xherdan Shaqiri, Takumi Minamino, Divock Origi and Curtis Jones were also present with the latter returning following his inaugural call up to the England under-21’s set-up.

Dutch duo Virgil van Dijk and Georginio Wijnaldum, who both played out 90 minutes during a 1-1 draw with Italy also returned to training alongside Diogo Jota who scored twice and assisted for Portugal during a 3-0 victory against Sweden.

The likes of Sadio Mane, Thiago Alcantara, Mohamed Salah, Joel Matip, James Milner and Adrian had all remained at Melwood during the international break and all will be hopeful of some form of involvement when the Reds make the short trip across Stanley Park at the weekend.

Alisson Becker, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Kostas Tsimikas remain Liverpool’s major injury absentees.

We have predicted as many as seven of Liverpool’s returning stars to be included in Klopp’s starting XI against Carlo Ancelotti’s table-toppers.
