Liverpool forward Harvey Elliott is closing in on a loan move to Blackburn Rovers.

According to The ECHO, the Championship outfit are looking to persuade the Liverpool teenager before the Friday transfer deadline at 5 pm. Liverpool are reportedly open to discussions given there is a guarantee for Elliott to play regularly under Tony Mowbray at Ewood Park.

Eliott, 17, signed a professional contract at Anfield earlier this summer after arriving from Fulham last year after becoming the Premier League’s youngest-ever debutant back in April 2019.

He has featured in the cup competitions for the first team but only twice in the Premier League – he did play in the second half of the friendly between Rovers and Liverpool in pre-season.

Championship promotion hopefuls Blackburn are said to have tabled a loan offer for Elliott, which the teenager is reportedly to have accepted, according to James Pearce.

Twitter has been drooling over footage of a Harvey Elliott goal in England training.

Elliott was included in Liverpool’s Champions League squad although the matter of Elliott playing in the competition seems an unlikely prospect.

Liverpool currently boast an array of attacking options including Diogo Jota and Takumi Minamino who are both first picks in the absence of the club’s pedigreed front-three. Also, the club’s inability to sell Xherdan Shaqiri also proposes another complication for Elliott to break into the first-team.

The Reds are notoriously careful about how they select loan offers from potential suitors.

Elliott’s potential loan move to Blackburn is set to become the fourth move sanctioned by Liverpool on deadline day after the club confirmed deals for Harry Wilson and Ben Woodburn to leave on loan with Cardiff and Blackpool respectively, while Herbie Kane secured a permanent move to Barnsley.

Kopites have since reacted on Twitter to the reported news that Elliott is a potential Championship target and there is a chance that a move could materialise ahead of the deadline. It could be a great proposition for Elliott although not all supporters would be happy to see him leave.
