Liverpool have made some iconic signings over the years which have captured the hearts of Kopites. Whether it is Virgil van Dijk, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah or Alisson Becker, none seem to have warranted the same beaming admiration that has followed from the addition of Thiago Alcantara – and the overwhelming responses to the latest training footage featuring the Spaniard pay notion to that.

In terms of profile and circumstance, Liverpool have signed a world-class player at the peak of his powers. To poach the best midfielder from the current Champions League holders is more than a statement of intent, it’s a changing of the guard for the Reds.

It vindicates the pull that comes with Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool with Anfield now very-much amongst the most desirable footballing destinations in the world.

A serial winner

Never before in the Premier League era have Liverpool added a global superstar of the calibre of Thiago. With a simply ridiculous array of silverware across his expansive CV, the Reds have inherited the services of a player who has become more accustomed to winning than any player in a Liverpool squad that have won both the Champions League and Premier League in the space of a year.

Because of this, it is no surprise to see that there is an overwhelming reaction from Liverpool supporters every time the camera catches a glimpse of the Reds’ new No.6.

The 29-year-old missed both Premier League matches against Arsenal and Aston Villa but is primed and ready to feature in the Merseyside derby against Everton at the weekend.m

It also will see Thiago reunite with Carlo Ancelotti for the first time since the Everton manager left his post with Bayern Munich back in September 2017.

Even though the Blues have made a perfect start to the season and are sitting pretty at the top of the PL table, the fact that Thiago is primed and ready to potentially make his full Liverpool debut is the perfect boost we needed following such a humbling experience against Aston Villa.
