Of the few players Liverpool would like to cash in on this summer, Harry Wilson and Marko Grujic remain the hardest to shift.
The Mirror reported earlier this year that Liverpool were not prepared to sanction another loan deal for the pair and if a move were to be finalised it would have to be a permanent deal.
Liverpool are reportedly holding out for an asking-price in the region of £20 million for each aforementioned player.
With the transfer window just days away from its conclusion on October 5, there is a very good chance that both players could stay with the Reds for the 2020/21 season.
BBC Sport recently reported that Wilson had become the subject of interest of Burnley although the club are yet to make an official offer for the Wales international.
Meanwhile, Grujic is also determined to leave the club after it was reported by Kicker that the Serbian international had changed agents in a bid to accelerate a move outside of Anfield.
Grujic’s U-turn comes just days after his impressive performance for Liverpool last week in the Carabao Cup victory against Lincoln City which saw the 24-year-old score his first goal for the club.
Wilson was an unused substitute in the match against Lincoln but with the transfer deadline looming, Klopp could look to utilise the former Bournemouth loanee against Arsenal if he thought a transfer away from the club wasn’t likely.
Whether or not either player is involved in the Thursday night bout should provide a clearer indication on Liverpool’s intentions for the two players with the clock currently ticking if they are to secure moves elsewhere.
Both players were pictured in training for the Reds as Jurgen Klopp continues his preparations for Liverpool’s clash against Arsenal in the League Cup on Thursday.
Big-hitters such as Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Alisson Becker were not pictured during Tuesday’s training session having all feature in the 3-1 victory against Arsenal in the Premier League the night before, though Naby Keita was present.
It provided the best insight yet as to who Klopp will look to feature in Liverpool’s second Anfield instalment against Mikel Arteta’s team tomorrow night.
In forward areas, Rhian Brewster (another player heavily touted with an Anfield exit), Divock Origi, Takumi Minamino, Harvey Elliott, Harry Wilson and Xherdan Shaqiri were all in action.
In midfield, Curtis Jones, James Milner and Grujic were all pictured.
Defensively, Billy Koumetio and Rhys Williams were the only central defenders snapped, with Sepp van den Berg having played for Barry Lewtas’ U21s in the EFL Trophy defeat to Tranmere last night.
Kostas Tsimikas and Neco Williams were involved and the full-back duo are both expected to start handing a well-deserved night off for Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Goalkeeper Adrian is expected to return between the sticks on Thursday following an impressive performance against Lincoln – he was seen training alongside Caoimhin Kelleher.
