A section of Liverpool fans have found a revived excitement following reports that the Reds could be set to reignite their interest in Watford forward Ismaila Sarr.

The Telegraph have suggested that Liverpool could move in for the 22-year-old if the economic climate financially permits a deal to go through before the deadline on October 5.

Chris Bascombe of the Telegraph recently reported that it was still possible for Liverpool to end the window having signed a sufficient attacking deputy to the club’s pedigreed front-three this summer in the form of Sarr.

Sarr has been persistently linked with Liverpool for the best part of two months since Watford’s relegation to the Championship was confirmed back in July.

The former Rennes star is currently contracted at Vicarage Road until 2024 and has an asking price in the region of £40 million according to the Evening Standard.

Liverpool were reluctant to pay such an extortionate fee for a player who will effectively be rotated as a squad option given Sarr is not going to overthrow any of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane or Roberto Firmino anytime soon.

However, following speculation that Liverpool are reportedly willing to sell striker Rhian Brewster in an attempt to raise funds at the club, it could open the door for the Reds to dip into the market for another attacking deputy.

According to The ECHO, Liverpool could look to cash in at around £20 million for Brewster if they could insert a buyback clause into the contract of the 20-year-old centre-forward who is highly rated among supporters.

While a large section of supporters have not taken well to the news that Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool could be set to offload Brewster, the blow has been softened for some following reports that a deal for Sarr could be pursued before the transfer deadline on October 5.

Here are a selection of responses from Kopites who would welcome the addition of the highly-rated Senegalese ace.
