Thiago Alcantara may be the hot topic of discussion among Liverpool supporters yet there were a number of other potential targets who produced encouraging performances during last night’s round of international fixtures.
One player who stole the spotlight and could have once again caught the attention of Jurgen Klopp was RB Salzburg midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai.
Szoboszlai, 19, was recently reported by The Mail as a potential target for Liverpool in midfield just four months after the club brought in another Salzburg star following Takumi Minamino’s cut-price deal in January.
Italian publication Tuttosport claim that Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are also in the hunt for the £26m-rated Hungarian international.
Szoboszlai was in action last night during Hungary’s opening Nations League fixture against Turkey.

Szoboszlai’s stunning set-piece saw a thunderbolt rocketed from 40 yards out before crashing of the inside of the post to hand Marco Rossi a stunning win in Istanbul.
It was Szoboszlai’s ninth cap for his country during an impressive performance that also saw the young midfielder make four key passes for his team [WhoScored].
Renowned for his versatility in midfield as the Hungarian international can operate as both a No.10 and No.8. He has just two years remaining on his deal in Austria and given Liverpool’s good relationship with Salzburg, talks could develop soon.
Szoboszlai came up against the Reds during Liverpool’s stunning 4-3 thriller at Anfield in last season’s Champions League before being beaten 2-0 in the final group game at home.
Hungarian outlet Rangado reported that Klopp after the match interrupted Szoboszlai’s interview in the Red Bull Arena corridor to congratulate him on his performance.
He also featured against the Reds recently during Salzburg’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool following the Reds’ two-week pre-season camp in Austria.
Here is a look at how Liverpool fans reacted to Szoboszlai’s sensational free-kick…
We should really try and sign him instead of some other names floating around. Barely 20 and great room to develop. Can play multiple positions. @LFC sign him
