Liverpool defender Morgan Boyes has posted on Instagram to showcase his delight at the opportunity presented to him following his season-long loan move to Joey Barton’s Fleetwood Town – and several of his Reds teammates have congratulated Boyes on social media.
The 19-year-old talent burst onto the scene last season after making his senior debut for Liverpool during the League Cup quarter-final clash with Aston Villa in December.
He was also a regular under Neil Critchley in the Under-23’s Premier League 2 campaign featuring 11 times before the season was eventually curtailed due to the ongoing global pandemic.
Boyes, 19, played the full 90 minutes at Villa Park nine months ago after Liverpool fielded their youngest-ever side during a 5-0 defeat to Aston Villa.
The teenager also featured during Liverpool’s heroic 1-0 victory in the FA Cup fourth-round against Shrewsbury Town where Jurgen Klopp on a second occasion last season entrusted Critchley and his youngsters to get the job done while the first-team were away during a mid-season break.
He will be linking up with a Fleetwood side that have aspirations of promotion following their League One play-off campaign last season.
Barton’s team were beaten in the semi-finals last month by Wycombe Wanderers who were eventually promoted to the Championship despite finishing below Fleetwood in the table.
Renowned for his dominance in the air and ability to set-up play, Boyes could prove to be a key asset for Barton next season as the Liverpool loanee looks to make his first real sustained run in the professional game.
Following the move, many of his Liverpool teammates including Harvey Elliott, Neco Williams, Ki-Jana Hoever, Elijah Dixon-Bonner, Paul Glatzel, Leighton Clarkson and several others were quick to congratulate the Fleetwood inbound youngster.
