Leeds United will be playing Premier League football next season following their Championship-winning campaign and one of their players has been absolutely fundamental to the club’s success.
The main area of concern for Marcelo Bielsa and Leeds will be the conclusion of Ben White’s loan deal at Elland Road.
White, 22, has started and finished every single Championship match under Bielsa this season and capped off a stellar campaign with a stunning volleyed goal against Charlton during last night’s 4-0 victory – no wonder he has attracted interest from some of England’s biggest clubs.
This raises the question as to whether Liverpool could be amongst some of the English heavyweights looking to bring in the talented defender next season.
While it is possible he could return to his parent club Brighton, White’s form for Leeds this season could mean the player’s value will be the highest it’s ever been and the club may look to cash out.

White can operate as both a central defender as well as a holding midfielder which could be extremely beneficial for Liverpool.
According to reports from The Mail, Dejan Lovren has recently been made the subject of a £9 million bid from Zenit St Petersburg which could be too much money to turn down for a 31-year-old potentially prompting Liverpool to sell.
If this is indeed the case, then Liverpool will need to expand their options.
Also, it is a potential move that was even suggested on the Leeds That Podcast where Adam Forshaw claimed White would be an ideal fit for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool.
An ideal fit
“I think Ben would be a good fit at a top Premier League team – I don’t think Leeds fans would thank me for saying this,” Forshaw said. “He’s a top lad and he’s got everything. He’d suit a club like that [Liverpool].
Liverpool currently occupy four defensive option in the centre of defence. Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are currently identified as Klopp’s preferred partnership although Joel Matip has also staked his claim as a defensive regular prior his knee injury in October.
If the PL champions are to sell Lovren then Liverpool will look for a replacement that has both age and ability on his side. White certainly meets that criteria and considering his young age could seriously blossom under the guidance of Champions League winners such as Van Dijk and Gomez.
It certainly is a transfer that has attracted a lot of attention and is one that a number of Liverpool supporters would welcome.
Here are a selection of tweets reacting to the rumours linking White with a potential Anfield move this summer…
THREAD ON BEN WHITE.
Easily going to be the most courted English defender in this upcoming transfer window; all the big clubs want him (including Liverpool, Chelsea, United, City and Arsenal) and it’s clear already that he isn’t a Championship-level defender.

We all make mistakes in players coming and going don’t we. Like letting a young premier league quality CB go out on loan and being Instrumental in getting his loan club into the same league as the parent club. Oh and putting him in the shop window for the likes of Liverpool 👍

Won’t be to Leeds if it’s true Liverpool & Man City are tracking him

He may well go to a bigger club than BHA, like Liverpool or City. He still has two years on his contract BTW.

If Liverpool come knocking with a big fee and wages he won’t be signing for Leeds. Maybe a loan back best we can hope for. Plus big clubs want English players for the quota so can’t see him signing myself sadly.
