With the Premier League firmly wrapped up with seven matches still to play, Liverpool supporters are now able to cast their eyes over to the rest of the league as the club begin preparations for their title defence next season.

This was evident on Wednesday evening as some Liverpool fans were seen on social media reacting to Chelsea forward Willian’s performance following the Blues’ 3-2 defeat at West Ham.

Frank Lampard and his team may have mathematically secured the league for Liverpool following their 2-1 victory against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge last week, yet Chelsea were forced to submit to their first defeat in the PL since the restart.

Despite this, Brazilian talisman Willian demonstrated his quality with two goals for Chelsea that made quite an impression amongst several Liverpool fans.

Willian, 31, is out of contract in the summer and could be set to leave Stamford Bridge following a seven-year spell with the club and recently scored the decisive goal that ultimately secured Liverpool their first title in 30 years.

Following reports from Sport Witness, Willian was previously linked with a move to Anfield back in April as Liverpool look to improve their squad as they look to retain their Premier League title as well as make a greater push for the Champions League next campaign.

The financial landscape of the club will have indeed been affected following the global pandemic which could force a more sensible approach from Liverpool’s board when looking at transfers.

Liverpool’s irreplaceable attacking triumvirate have demonstrated that there is no possible explanation for any upgrades so the club will instead look to bolster up the attacking department from the bench to help cope with the strain of competing across all fronts next season.

With this under consideration and with Xherdan Shaqiri also expected to leave, Willian could represent a shrewd and impressive acquisition if Liverpool were able to sign the forward once his contract expires.

The only potential problem in securing a deal for the former Shakhtar Donetsk would be wages and whether he would accept that the possibility of regular starting in his desired position for the Reds would be limited.

Willian is currently earning £138,000-a-week (Spotrac) at Chelsea which could be considered an acceptable figure by Liverpool.

Following his performance against the Hammers, some Liverpool supporters took to Twitter to encourage their club to consider sanctioning a deal for the tricky winger once his contract with Chelsea expires.

Here is a selection of tweets from Liverpool supporters raving from the performance of the 69-time international star.
