Xherdan Shaqiri has reportedly attracted the interest of Turkish outfit Galatasaray ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window amid links that the Liverpool winger could be set to depart Anfield – and Reds supporters have reacted on Twitter to the reported news.
The link with Galatasaray comes after The Mirror claimed that Shaqir was one of six Liverpool stars on the verge of a potential exit from Merseyside – along with Loris Karius, Nathaniel Clyne, Dejan Lovren, Naby Keita and Divock Origi.
Shaqiri, 28, joined the Reds back in 2018 after Liverpool activated the Switzerland international’s £13 million [BBC Sport] buyout-clause.
Since his Anfield arrival, the former Bayern Munich star has clocked up 40 appearances for the world champions – playing a part in 12 goals in 30 outings during his first season and providing a crucial assist in the 4-0 comeback against Barcelona.
However, Shaqiri’s second season on Merseyside has been a polar opposite of his inaugural campaign and his influence on the pitch has been plagued by injury. The former Inter Milan forward has made just 10 appearances this time around – only two of PL starts.
Turkish outlet Fotomac claim that Shaqiri is catching the attention of Galatasaray, who currently remain in the mix for the SuperLiga title this season with the Yellow-Reds currently in third just three points behind leaders Trabzonspor.
The ECHO have also claimed that Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp could command an eye-watering £28 million with Galatasaray potentially looking to orchestrate a loan-to-buy deal for the versatile attacker.
Shaqiri’s current contract at Anfield is set to expire in 2023 although the forward’s absence on the pitch has questioned his future with the English champions-elect.
With doubts beginning to arise over Shaqiri’s future with Liverpool, some supporters have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on the future of the former Stoke City star and whether the club should be showing a greater intent to keep him at Anfield.

People literally forget how clutch he was for us last season in Oct-January. Crucial at Barca & Newcastle games last season too. This season clutch game vs Everton. I’ve had a calf tear it’s not nice.

He's already said he will finish the season on a high and win the league then look for game time.

Main problem woth Shaqiri & it's a big problem, is his durability throughout a season. He always picks up injuries. Supremely talented attacker, built like a bull but is too injury prone. Sell him along with Origi (Werner a upgrade), Wilson, Grujic, Lovren, Karius.

Sometimes, I will be wondering, if he's still a Liverpool player, or he has been transferred, without me knowing, but truth be told, he is one of the best players, in the Liverpool squad, so most times, I do wonder, why he's been sideline, A gifted player to say the least.

I think he's a good player, better than Minamino, but something isn't right. Injuries and a potential issue with Klopp??
