During a time where football has been made temporarily redundant due to the outbreak and spread of Covid-19 people will do anything to pass the time in the absence of the sport we love more than anything.

With Premier League football postponed until April 3 at the earliest, people have been turning to the virtual world of football for their weekly dose of entertainment, as they attempt the recreate Liverpool’s success on the pitch in their own career mode using platforms in footballing games such as Football Manager, FIFA and PES.

One player who chose to give Jurgen Klopp’s job a go was former Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland striker Darren Bent.

The former England international took up the Anfield hot-seat on Football Manager 2020 – with some spectacular transfer results.

Bent made a number of big managerial calls during his stint as Liverpool boss and sold the majority of the Reds’ current world-conquering squad including attacking trio Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.

He also sold Joe Gomez, who was seeking a move away from Merseyside and brought in Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci to partner Virgil van Dijk in defence.

The former Charlton Athletic striker also sold Robertson to Juventus before bringing in Ben Chilwell as his replacement.

Liverpool club captain and PFA Player of the Year favourite Jordan Henderson was sold to bitter rivals Manchester United for £87m.

Bent’s Anfield incomings included Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka, Juventus forward Paulo Dybala, Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, RB Leipzig hotshot Timo Werner and last but not least, PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe.

Appearing on the radio show on Wednesday Bent revealed to talkSPORT how he had taken over Liverpool and decided to give Klopp’s Premier League champions-elect a drastic makeover.

Speaking on the Sports Breakfast show, he sad: “I kept Alisson in goal, Trent is brilliant so I kept him, and Virgil van Dijk is the best in the world so of course, I kept him.

“But Joe Gomez kept saying he wants to leave, he ‘wants a bigger challenge’ – we’ve just won the Champions League and Premier League titles, everything!

“He had an attitude problem. So I sold him and brought in Leonardo Bonucci. He and Van Dijk are solid.

“I sold Andy Robertson so bought in Ben Chilwell.

“Then, in midfield, I just sold every one. I sold Jordan Henderson to Man United for like £87million!

“So, instead, I’ve got N’Golo Kante and Leon Goretzka from Bayern Munich – what a player he is – and Paulo Dybala in front of them.

“Salah, Mane and Firmino, I sold all of them too.

“So on one side I’ve got Jadon Sancho, at centre-forward is Timo Werner – 52 goals in his first season! – and on the other side I’ve got Kylian Mbappe!

“Does that team beat Liverpool right now? It’d be close, wouldn’t it?!”
