The Norwegian FA have released a statement which confirms that UEFA have decided to postpone this summer’s Euro 2020 tournament by 12 months in an attempt for European leagues to finish their respective seasons – and Liverpool supporters have taken to Twitter following the news.

Jurgen Klopp’s league leaders were just two victories away from securing their first league title since 1990 but the recent health crisis and outbreak of Covid-19 has stunted their efforts for the time being with the Premier League postponed until April 3 – and it is likely to extend well beyond the suggested date.

The worst-case scenario for the Reds is if the current season were voided and Liverpool were to be denied the league title even despite their current unassailable 25 point lead over current holders Manchester City.

However, the postponement of the Euros could hand Liverpool some hope in terms of finishing the current season. Without the strain and worry of having proceedings wrapped up before June (when the tournament commences) there is now more time for UEFA and the Premier League to develop ideas and strategies on how to effectively finish the 2019/20 campaign.

Indeed, the Norwegian FA have provided hope to Liverpool fans on their official Twitter account after it was confirmed that the Euros will now take place from June, 11 2021.

European football’s governing body had plans to feature 24 teams for just the second time in the competition’s 60-year history with Wembley set to host the semi-finals as well as the final on Sunday, July 12.

Liverpool have nine games still to play this season with just six points required to mathematically secure the title.ย  The Reds’ upcoming matches against Everton in the Merseyside and a visit from Crystal Palace were postponed on Friday due to the suspension of play across the top flight.

The news provides hope that Liverpool can finally finish the season and end 30-years of hurt at Anfield so Jordan Henderson can finally do his trademark shuffle and aloft the Premier League title – and many Reds supporters have showcased their delight that the Euro 2020 tournament had been pushed back a year.
