Liverpool were eliminated from the Champions League following their 3-2 defeat (AET) to Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night – and former goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek has come to the aid of Adrian following the Spaniard’s costly error.

Atletico brought a 1-0 first-leg advantage to the home of the current holders ahead of the second leg clash courtesy of Saul Niguez’s goal, but only few could have seen the game going the way it did. Geogrinio Wijnaldum bagged his fourth European Cup goal for the Reds, equalising the tie on aggregate just before half-time.
The Dutchman’s header sent the tie into extra-time and just four minutes into the extra 30 minutes, Roberto Firmino got his first Anfield goal of the season after initially hitting the post before the ball bounced back and he tapped home.
However, with just 25 minutes of extra time to go, Diego Simeone’s side bounced back. Substitute Marcos Llorente had previously scored just three career goals – but he netted a brace. The first coming after a catastrophic mistake from goalkeeper Adrian.
The second caught the Reds napping on the break and was an excellent finish from 20 yards out, leaving Adrian again flat on his heels. Liverpool hit the bar through Andy Robertson and had plenty of chances, but Alvaro Morata ended any doubt with moments left – squeezing the ball at the Spaniard’s near post.
Former Liverpool goalkeeper Dudek, who was the club’s Champions League-winning hero in 2005 has posted on Instagram after the match coming to the aid of Adrian.
