Liverpool’s Sadio Mane has reconnected with a former teammate Alberto Moreno on Instagram ahead of the Reds’ do-or-die Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid at Anfield tonight.
Jurgen Klopp’s European champions currently trail Diego Simeone’s Spanish giants 1-0 following the first-leg at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium three weeks ago.
Saul Niguez’s solo strike proved to be the difference upon Liverpool’s return to the Spanish capital with the Reds failing to register one solitary shot on target all game.
Mane, 27, will be more than desperate to prove a point in the reverse fixture at Liverpool’s home fortress after the Senegalese ace was forced off at half-time in Madrid after receiving an early booking leading to fears of a red card ruling Mane out of the Anfield clash.
Ahead of Liverpool’s biggest match of the season to date, Mane has taken to Instagram to rally supporters who will be pivotal in the Reds looking to overturn a first-leg deficit once again against Spanish opposition.
His post featured an image following his match-winning strike against Bournemouth at the weekend and was captioned: ‘We go again!’.
Mane’s post even attracted attention from former Red and current Villareal defender Alberto Moreno. The Spaniard endured a five-year spell on Merseyside following his £12m [BBC Sport] move from Sevilla in 2014.
The 27-year-old departed Liverpool last summer after winning the Champions League with the club before securing a return back to La Liga.
Mane and Moreno shared a close relationship during their time together at Anfield with the former revealing that he missed his former Spanish teammate.
Liverpool’s battle with Atletico will commence at Anfield at 19:45 GMT.
