Liverpool supporters call for Steven Gerrard to return amid managerial woes with Rangers

Steven Gerrard’s Rangers have fallen to yet another domestic defeat, this time to Hamilton at Ibrox as their title hopes took another major dent.

The Gers dominated for long spells against their Scottish rivals but were left reeling by David Moyo’s goal which they struggled to come back from, killing off any faint hopes at a late title surge.

With Celtic drawing at Livingston, it was a huge opportunity for Rangers to close the gap but the team’s latest calamity has left Gerrard chasing Neil Lennon’s runaway leaders by 13 points.

A disappointing defeat to Hearts in the Scottish Cup compounded a dreadful start to 2020 but going down 1-0 to Hamilton at Ibrox simply isn’t acceptable and fans were venting their anger by the time the full-time whistle was blown.

Despite getting having a mouth-watering Europa League last 16 clash with Bayer Leverkusen rapidly approaching, it looks as though some Rangers fans would prefer to go into that game with someone else in the hot seat which has encouraged Liverpool supporters to call for their former captain to come home.

With Neil Critchley leaving his post as U23s manager at the club, this could open a viable route back at Liverpool for Gerrard should he leave Rangers following the former England skipper’s season in charge of the U18s in the 2017/18 campaign.

With the league now firmly out of the picture for Rangers, Gerrard won’t have long to pick his players up before they face Ross County this weekend – and it will be interesting to see how the managerial situation could play out if Rangers fall further off the pace.

Here is a selection of tweets from Liverpool fans urging the club legend to come back to Anfield…
