Former Liverpool prodigy Ryan Kent scored an emphatic winning goal as Rangers earned a 1-0 win over Braga in Portugal to progress into the last 16 of the Europa League, winning 4-2 on aggregate – and Liverpool supporters have reacted on Twitter.

Steven Gerrard’s Gers made the trip to Portugal off the back of a remarkable European comeback after overturning  a two-goal deficit with less than half-an-hour to play in the first-leg to win 3-2 at Ibrox last week – and now the Scottish Premiership runners-up have sent the Primeira Liga giants home packing.

The man-of-the-moment Kent stole the show in the second half, after Ianis Hagi spotted the tricky winger’s run and played a delightful chip over the Braga defence for Kent to run onto which the 23-year-old converted in style.

Kent took a succulent first-touch past a Braga defender leaving him for dead in his tracks before progressing towards goal and letting loose a controlled side-foot finish into the bottom corner sending Gerrard and the away supporters into raptures.

The former Coventry City powerhouse made the move to Glasgow outfit Rangers on loan for the 2018-19 season and after an impressive campaign in which he clocked up 42 appearances and won the Scottish Young Player of the Year award – Rangers then made it their mission to sign him permanently, from Liverpool costing the club  £7million (Mail).

Kopites have since reacted on Twitter showcasing their delight at their former hero stealing the spotlight to send Rangers into the last 16, where they could face the likes of Inter Milan, Ajax, Manchester United, Wolves or Arsenal.

Here is a selection of tweets of Liverpool supporters congratulating the European hero…
